Village Books Dulwich

Village Books is a long-established, award-winning independent bookshop that started life in the 1930’s as the Gallery Bookshop and Lending Library. Run by Hazel Broadfoot with our stalwart team of Tracey Kivland, Hannah Swanwick, Josie Lister, Ella Bucknall and Lyndsey Ng heading up our events programme. We aim to combine great books with good service – and we love the challenge of tracking down a half-remembered title. We can’t stock every title that’s in print – but we’ve got a fast, efficient ordering service with many thousands of titles available for next day delivery. Call us by 5.00pm and you can collect your order before lunch the following day. We can also source out of print and American titles. We’ve got a busy programme of author events – in the last year we’ve welcomed novelists, historians, actors, famous cooks and children’s writers. Hazel says “We really care about making authors, customers and publishers happy with our events. Recent authors have included: Ruby Wax, Sir Max Hastings, Edmund de Waal, Mary Berry, Rick Stein, David Suchet, Yotam Ottolenghi and Michael Palin. Children’s events have featured: Derek Landy, Chris Riddell, Robin Stevens, Lauren Child, Michael Morpurgo, Michael Foreman and Morris Gleitzman”. We aim to be an integral part of the community by offering a first-class service to local schools and we have many years’ experience in this field. We’re also one of the few shops around that actually welcomes dogs – we’ve always got a supply of dog treats on hand for our canine visitors.
